Drowning in Scraps

I guess I am no different from most quilters, I have HEAPS of scraps. This is my scrap corner:
Everything you see here is scraps. Everything on the shelves are scraps, in the white plastic ice cream containers, in the orange photocopy paper box lids, in the boxes on the floor. They have been starting to overwhelm me. I cannot bring myself to throw any of them out. I hear my father's voice echoing in my head "waste not, want not". I have been keeping pieces as little as 1" by 1/2" for goodness sake! One of my friends says I have 'scrap-a-philia' and I need therapy. Another asked one of her on-line groups what they did with their scraps. Thankfully (for me), of everyone who replied, only one threw out her scraps. the others are like me, they keep them. It is reassuring to know I am not alone :-)

As a relative newbie, my scrap collection isn't that large yet!

Time for a crazy quilt I think! Just think how many meters of fabric you have albeit in tiny bits - you would be throwing a lot of money away to throw then out.I do think you should make something though!!

I have picked a size (2.5" square) that is the smallest scrap I save. If I need something smaller I'll use one of the squares and cut it down.

Poor baby - they DO put a drain on a person. But, ya never know when you'll need them.

Yesterday, I did some small cleaning and I actually THREW OUT, yes, I said that, I THREW OUT some scraps and a small project I didn't like! Wow, I feel like a burden had been lifted off me! I'll never miss them and feel like Wonder Woman, having great strength at making that decision to ELIMINATE them!

A while back I gave some small scraps to my son's nursery. When they put them out on one of the tables for the kids to do glueing with them I was almost tempted to take them back LOL!

I hoard my scraps too! Never know when they might come in handy... for something.
