Another one bites the dust.

This is the other quilt I made for the mystery half-nighter. When the quilting on the yellow one went haywire I realised it was going to take forever to get it unpicked. So I made this one. It is exactly the same pattern as the yellow on, but without the applique. It was sitting around waiting for me to decide what I was going to quilt in the zig zag part. I had already quilted a cable in the blue parts and I had the binding sewn on as well, so it's a bit of a cheat. There wasn't much to do to get it finished. Funny how some things need only a little work to be finished but I leave them sitting around gathering protective dust coatings.

I decided to do spirals since I had been doing lots on the yellow quilt. This closeup photo is heaps better quality because my son was around to show me how to put the camera into super closeup mode. I wish I had known how to do that when Frances quilted her safety pin onto her bag. I would have take a much better photo of a quilting miracle!!

So that is quilt number 2 finished for 2007.

Love the colours - very striking. Well done you've finished twice as many in 2007 as I did in 2006! LOL!

Nice Helen - I do like your quilting. Now you've done Spring and Autumn in the series, do we expect Summer and Winter as well?

I love the colors in this quilt, and I'm a real sucker for spirals. They add so much dimensionality. I also really like this in the lighter colors with the applique. Wonderful work!

I've just seen this quilt 'in the flesh' and the colours are much different - they are much more winter toned than the photo shows, the checked sashing is very gray blue and the other colours much more subdued. Its a lovely quilt in either colourway but it is definitely Helen's winter version of this pattern. She still has autumn and summer to do!

Helen, that is really nice quilting. I like the spirals.

I do that too - put things off and let them weigh heavily on my mind. when I finally come around to completing them, I am amazed at how quickly I got the task accomplished.

Hi Helen: Thanks for visiting my site. I just looked at your first 2 quilts - they are so different - you have a unique style. I am adding you to my BLOGLINEs and look forward to a longer visit.

And NO, I will NOT retrieve my 'extra' blocks that have been discarded .. but, just to be sure, I'm taking the trash to the dumpster today!
